Things to do near Blinkbonny Cottage
There are plenty of activities on the doorstep or within easy reach, being approximately a 45 minute to an hours drive to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth & St.Andrews and a 20 minute drive to Stirling or Kinross.
Hillwalking
The Ochils stretch for 20 miles and rise over 2,300 feet with the popular summits of Dumyat & Ben Cleuch, which is the highest in the Ochils. The views reach as far as the Forth Bridges and across Central Scotland and towards the Highlands.
Walking
There are many routes across the area to explore which include the circular around Gartmorn Dam. The Jubilee Way stretching from the foot of The Ochils at Blairlogie to the Yetts of Muckhart. From the accommodation the walk to and around Gartmorn Dam (approximately 7 miles in total) is a pleasant walk and The Gartmorn Dam Coffee House is an ideal stop half way round.
Motorsport & Karting
Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre situated at Knockhill is approximately a 15 minute drive from the accommodation as to is Extreme Karting at Larbert.
Golf
Within Clackmannanshire the area offers a range of golf clubs with stunning scenery, accompanied with a friendly welcome and some also with catering facilities. Gleneagles & St.Andrews are also within easy driving/ community distance.
Cycling
This area has several cycling routes, all within easy reach.(Sustrans Routes amongst other paths)
Sightseeing
Why not explore the many castles in the area including Castle Campbell, Stirling Castle. Amongst many other attractions are The Wallace Monument, Dunfermline Abbey, Culross Abbey, The Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies & Alloa Tower and 6 miles along the road are the beautiful Japanese Garden at Cowden, Muckhart.
Horse-riding
For those who enjoy getting out & exploring the countryside, there are riding schools locally.

There are many lochs, rivers as well as fisheries within a short drive.
Shopping
The nearest large supermarket is Morrisons in Alloa, 4.5 miles away, with Lidl, Aldi, Tesco & Asda within a mile thereafter, or the Co-op in Clackmannan 2.5 miles. There is also a designer outlet at Tillicoultry adjacent to the mighty Sterling Furniture. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth & Stirling are all within easy driving distance. The nearest train station is located in Alloa approximately 5 miles away.
